i am a blade of grass
bent into muddied waters;
i am gravel displaced
by the pressure of loss;
i am glass become sand
become glass again:
the injunction of a clear singer,
the wisdom of the sea.
…..
Follow me uphill;
roll aside
the Sarsen stone set
over my
soul, unearthing
the well of stale
passion that
expires breath-
wise under damp
breasts and dry heat.
Find me a new
shrine to an old
desperation buried in clouds
of molded hope, somewhere
deep and high where i
can claw out and
lay down with pride
the four bloodied
chambers of this broken
faith.
another winner…
come join us again, love your company…
Happy Thursday!
love the first stanza,
beautiful images….
I used to sing a song called grass,
extraordinary meanings could be discovered in ordinary subjects.
stunning poem!
Wow.. amazing imagery throughout!!
From rise to fall, back to rise…
From hopelessness to hope
From darkness to faint glimmer…
All very nicely done!! Really enjoyed the style and structure!!

Speechless, this is so wonderful. What a great job!
Wow…your words sing…beautiful piece!
Jingle, Kavita, Buttercup–always enjoy the pleasure of one of your visits! Glad y’all like the style/layout with the “preface” beforehand–I wasn’t sure about it myself at first, but it seemed to fit the mood. Modeled on the “song of Taliesin” in Celtic lore, for those into that sort of thing…
southernmusings–always a pleasure. 🙂
notjeffery–thanks. took me a long time to find a suitable picture for this one. glad you found some resonance in it.
Heart–I’m so happy you liked the namesake description! You have no idea how long in my head i went ’round with the phrase “the four bloodied/chambers of this broken/–blank–” to keep the idea of “heart” without saying it…
continued…. 🙂

Katherine–stop it; you’re making me blush! was checking out some of your stuff & found my way to “Cats”; did a little grrr-ing myself. 🙂
Leo, Inelle, wondrin, thoughts–appreciate you stopping by, and all your kind words.
woih–i find that’s one of the most beautiful things about reading (and writing) poetry: how it always gives you some new thought or perspective to ponder. it was my pleasure to share.
dasuntoucha–singing was a big part of this piece–at least in the sense of singing the way the old druids did. 🙂 glad the words did for you.
cheers all and happy rally!
